How we made this bag

Our artisans in Telangana, India use Toddy Palm leaves to make this Poppy Straw Sling Bag. Traditionally we use palm leaves for many purposes including thatching, weaving, and creating many household items like baskets, boxes and fashion accessories. We use coiled binding process for making this bag. Artisans collect the ivory coloured palm leaves and sun dry it for 2 to 3 days. After sun drying, we split the palm leaves into 3-4 pieces and dye it using natural plant based dyes. The leaves are again sun dried after dying and weaved into various products

Ethical & Sustainable

ZIVELI started with 50 women artisans 3 years ago and now we work with 200+ Artisans. Since we started our artisan’s monthly income has tripled and they are now guaranteed, regular work for 7-8 months of the year. Their spending power has increased and this has resulted in phenomenal overall development of the region.
